The Fly Fishing Team

Our team of guides can provide whatever it is that you require, from basic tuition through to advanced needs of a National Team member needing to perfect specific skills; from the visitor to a new fishery to the demanding 'wilderness' trips.

As flyfishers we're all different.  We want and appreciate different aspects in our sport.  In order to cover the needs of all our guests, we work with people who can offer different things.

Wojtek fishing the San RiverIn Poland we have a guiding team headed by Wojtek Gibinski, former England Team Guide, and a multi-linguist who understands completely the needs of the visiting flyfisher to this European frontier region; the awesome San River.  Wojtek is a brilliant and experienced organiser.  We simply could not operate in Poland without him.

Stuart Minnikin on the Calder, Yorkshire

For the experience of the rivers of North Yorkshire -  Wharfe, Ure and Nidd - you can fish with Stuart Minnikin of Yorkshire Dales Flyfishing.  Stuart is also a Nationally qualified instructor and one of the most talented river flyfishers in Britain, with a coveted England Rivers Team cap to his credit (2004).  Stuart is a naturally gifted teacher and you could not find better company, or a better start in this extraordinary sport.

If you need basic tuition, or improvement with your casting or presentation, we will take you to Stuart Broadhurst, of Eden Valley Fly Fishing, a qualified National Instructor and a brilliant teacher.  Stuart will develop your casting on a small, private lake near Ullswater, and when you're ready will move you onto the greater demands of upstream dry fly presentation on the Rivers Lowther and Eamont.

JT in Masterclass on River WearI'm not dropping back from the frontier of this sport.  In the 70s and 80s the frontier, mine and hundreds of others', was Grafham North Shore, swinging buzzers on a long, floating double taper with a greased 'indicator' tip.  The frontier's not there anymore, so if you want to learn how to do that, I'll send you out with Iain Barr - "Barny" - one of my cherished England Team mates, and probably the finest stillwater flyfisher to have graced the England Team.  And for the ultimate in river guiding you simply cannot better a day with four times National Champion, John Tyzack.  'JT' is absolutely the most brilliant competitive river fisher England has ever produced, and one of the best in the world. Barny and JT will take you to their frontier, a special place indeed.  I'll take you to mine - the wilderness areas of Europe.  We have a team of experienced guides, most of them England Internationals, throughout the country who can help you develop skills on river and lake.

For the western wilderness at the edge of Europe, in Ireland, there is our friend Laurence Gibb, another former England Team Guide who will take you in drifting boats on Lough's Corrib, Mask and Erne, or on extended pack-rod trips on Donegal's breathtaking wild brown trout waters.  Contact us and we will put you in touch with Laurence.
