Several of our fly patterns which have been perfected over many years in river and lake fisheries all over the world are now tied for us by Fulling Mill.  They have produced not only the outstanding Muller range of dry flies to our specification, but also most of the flies needed on all the waters fished by the Wilderness Flyfishing team.  If we do not tie them ourselves, they are tied to rigorous specifications with outstanding quality control by FM.  Please ask about selections tailored for specific methods and fishery types.   See our products page on Pioneer Flyfishing for details and updates.

JT in Masterclass on the River WearJohn Tyzack Fly Fishing for the ultimate in river guiding with a competitive approach, by four times English National Rivers Champion, John Tyzack.

John offers the top level of river fly fishing help.  As a life-long fisherman, I am rarely surprised by what I see in this sport (though often humbled), but JT has on numerous occasions given me reason to marvel at his astonishing skills with river trout and grayling.  I treasure my times with all my England Team-mates; the fly-fishing moments I have shared with JT have been special among even these.

Bessy Beck Trout Fishery in the Upper Lune Valley is a superbly-managed trout fishery consisting of two fly-fishing lakes which are ideal for the developing fly-fisher to perfect casting and presentation with modern fly-fishing methods.  Bessy Beck also has year-round fly fishing, for rainbow and blue trout, and yields a real chance of catching very large specimens, while tuition for beginners can also be provided.  Those interested in developing competitive fly fishing skills can enter the CEFF/Airflo bankfishing competition at Bessy Beck, where Qualifying Heats are held in the Spring.  This is not wilderness fishing, but it does provide a sound introduction to the sport and allow you to prepare for the grail of fishing with fly in the wild places.
